Ed Fish of Weston was a quiet, behind-the scenes benefactor of Wednesday's
Child; over the years giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to help
special needs adoption. Ed passed away in his home, leaving behind his
beloved wife Gretchen and a large extended family. Not only was he a
wonderful friend of Wednesday's Child, but he and his wife were close
friends and neighbors of Marci and Jack Williams.
Jack recalled: "I remember one fund-raising dinner at Il Capriccio
in Waltham, where supporters paid $500 a person for a great evening
of food and wines. Our volunteers had worked hard raising a record amount
for dinner, thanks to a number of contributions from people who couldn't
attend. During the event, Ed quietly came up to me and asked if he could
have a word. 'How much do you think you'll raise tonight?' I said around
$72,000. He said he would match that amount, but he wanted to remain
anonymous."
I found out later that Ed and Gretchen helped countless charities, always
trying to give back and share their good fortune.
God bless you Ed Fish. You were a giant among men!
