Dear Jack,
My wife and I have been watching your Wednesday's Child
segments for years. You should know that the success
of this program extends past the number of children
placed through your stories. Nearly eight years
ago we decided to begin the journey that is adoption.
We were motivated in large part by your weekly stories. After
hearing the sheer numbers of children in state care that
needed loving homes we never considered adopting
a child from anywhere else. We worked through the approval
process with DSS and attended their parenting class.
In August of 1999 our efforts were rewarded with the placement
of a five year old boy named Christopher.
Chris has been with us for over seven years now.
To be honest; raising an adopted child that comes
from and abused, neglected and traumatized background
has proven to be a greater challenge than we ever expected.

There have been many low points but these have been
offset by many more high points. Watching him
grow and develop into a normal, healthy and happy child
has proven to be an incredibly rich, satisfying and rewarding experience.
There is no greater joy than helping a child in need.
Congratulations on your 25th anniversary. Thank
you for encouraging us to adopt a child.
